Welcome

Johnson, Rappa & Ivancevich, LLC, is a "boutique" firm concentrating its practice primarily in complex litigation and employment relations, successfully representing both plaintiffs and defendants.

In the area of complex litigation, we have both successfully brought and defended class actions. We have been certified as class counsel on behalf of numerous classes of plaintiffs in consumer credit litigation. Additionally, our firm is one of the few firms nationally to successfully defend, through trial, a sexual harassment class action wherein the EEOC failed to prevail on behalf of any of the class members on any issue.

Our firm routinely handles Constitutional deprivation matters in Federal Court, successfully defending such diverse matters as police shootings, wrongful employment actions or terminations, and also deprivations arising out of the application of zoning laws, including the regulation of adult entertainment.

In the area of construction law, Johnson, Rappa & Ivancevich, LLC represents contractors, architects, and engineers, both through insurance carriers and privately, as well as representing associations of contractors. Our representation of contractors includes, but is not limited to, construction and design defects.

Our firm's extensive employment practice primarily involves the representation of employers in all labor/employment-related matters. In addition to those matters resulting in state and federal court litigation, our firm handles matters before such administrative agencies as the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Indiana Civil Rights Commission among others. We also counsel employers and assist in the preparation of personnel policy manuals, drug policies, and other employment related policies so as to maintain compliance not only with state and federal laws but also to promote the vision of the company.

Regarding environmental law, we represent both plaintiffs and defendants in this complicated and quickly evolving area.

Somewhat new is the area of not-for-profit law. Increasingly corporations and individuals are creating not-for-profit organizations to benefit society or a specific cause. This area of law is just beginning to blossom and develop, however, currently in Northwest Indiana a dearth of attorneys exist who have knowledge in this field. We have pursued, hired, and trained individuals who have quickly developed an expertise in this area of law. We feel that it is our obligation as attorneys to benefit society, when and where we can; practicing in this area of law provides area not-for-profits with local counsel, thus allowing them to do what they do best: helping others.

Lastly, Steven A. Johnson and George S. Ivancevich are certified by the Indiana Supreme Court as civil mediators. Mediation and arbitration have become an increasingly active part of their practice. Having dual mediators allows Steve and George to conduct "team mediations" when the matter involves numerous parties.
